BEING ANCHORED IN TRANSITION

These last three months have been a whirlwind. So much change. So much transition. So much traveling.

1) I got married on Sept 28 to the love of my life.
2) I went from living with my 2 brothers and one of my best friends to living out of my suitcase, sleeping in different locations, to living with my beautiful wife in an amazing loft.
3) I have traveled to 6 different states and left the country once in the last 2 months: NYC, Lancaster PA, Pasadena CA, Portland Oregon, Denver CO, and Tulum Mexico.
4) Now having a full-time job at UPPERROOM.

Change is hard for me, especially big change. There's only been one thing that has helped maintain my heart and soul in the midst of huge change...

MINISTERING TO THE LORD, THE PRESENCE OF JESUS, AND THANKING THE LORD.

It's what I have given my life to. It's the reason I chose to plant myself here at UPPERROOM over 7 years ago. It's the reason why I live -- blessing the Lord and thanking the Lord.

This scripture was the anchor to my soul during my season of transition:

Psalms 103 1 - 5
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And all that is within me, bless His holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget none of His benefits
Who pardons all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases
Who redeems your life from the pit,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion
Who satisfies your years with good things. . .

David commands his to soul to "bless the Lord." Whatever season of life he was in when he wrote this, he probably wasn't "feeling it", to the point that he needed to command his soul to bless the Lord and remember all His benefits.

This scripture was the anchor to my soul during my season of transition. It helped me finish my season of singleness well and enter into this new season of marriage with a wide open and whole heart.

Ministry to the Lord is much more than goosebumps, a great song, a great melody, a great band, etc. It opens your eyes to see the Lord rightly in any season of your life, and as you see Him, He strengthens you, encourages you, disciplines you, heals you, restores you, transforms you, and ultimately you become more and more like Jesus.
