A Sunday Talk by Lorisa Miller on Auguest 5th.

Listen to the podcast here.

For a bride, her wedding day is the most exciting opportunity to impress her groom with simply herself. Her dress, hair, makeup — all of it perfect, for him. What does he find attractive? She dreams of the details, the colors, the moment she sees him. The details matter but what matters more is the moment. The moment she walks in and he beholds her beauty. The moment he tears up a little, or a lot, as she moves towards him. Moment to moment, the details matter but what matters more? The dress, the lighting, the flowers? If this moment were mirrored as a portrayal of our lives with Christ, the details matter, but what matters more? The moment we are pleasing to Him. When He is truly captivated.

We want to be pleasing to Him.
We do that by being obedient.
When we obey we find REST.

John 15:10
“If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.”

As the bride approaches the isle, as she walks towards the man who is better than she could've dreamed, the details mattered, but what matters now? Him — his face when he sees her, the promises of love he is about to declare for all to hear, the ring he will place on her finger as a sign of covenant forever and the kiss. The moment. She captivates him. She moves his heart by her beauty and she is pleasing to him. She has moved past obstacles to present her life, heart, future, to the one she loves. The details fade and the promise of love fills the room. The moment to celebrate and remember for the rest of their lives.

From us to Him, from the Bride to her Bridegroom, what does it look like to be pleasing to Him? The details matter, but what matters more?
